Hi Kev!

I'm not an Externalsim user, hence it would probably be sensible for you to await a more authoritative reply from someone who is. So this is simply a tentative suggestion in the interim, FWIW....

A while ago when I did try Externalsim I recall that I did find myself in a scenario where the aircraft was bobbing about in the water (presumably, Latitude=0.00000°, Longitude=0.00000°?). My memories about what I did to fix it are a bit hazy now, unfortunately, but I think that I tracked my problem down to my aircraft.cfg file, which I had edited manually rather than using the ExternalSim config utility from the PSX.NET start menu.

The problem occurred (IIRC) because I needed to ensure that the Category=airplane entries were changed to Category=externalsim, BUT the Category=aircraft lines were left severely alone.

Airplane/aircraft — easy to overlook the difference: maybe your problem lies somewhere in that area, or within the aircraft.cfg file, at least? If you haven't done so already, your best bet might be re-running the ExternalSim config utility, since with any luck that might fix the problem for you. And, of course, be certain that PSX really is connected and running, since if it isn't then Externalsim will definitely position you bobbing about in the wet stuff.

I hope that might help a little...?

Cheers,

Brian

Yep, if you're bobbing about in the water at 0.0000/0.0000 then it's definitely not seeing externalsim in your aircraft.cfg

Reinstalling worked for me, using the configurator.

Thanks to all the help after a bit of messing around i have managed to get it to work

Thanks
