QuoteBoeing's next commercial jet design could come with a cockpit built for just one pilot, according to industry analysts.

A second pilot would be ground based and be able to "monitor several aircraft" at the same time.

Reducing the number of pilots from an airline's payroll could save a company millions of dollars in salaries and training costs.

I think two is a fine number.

In some ways though, zero pilots would be better than just one.

Don't forget lawyers. Insurance company lawyers and airline lawyers vs. ambulance chasing-lawyers.

The battle might delay this issue for a long time.

Why not keep all pax on the ground as well, and let them see and hear each other across the planet via Skype?

One pilot....
                .... and a dog :D

When will we see flight attendant robots?

Keith Maton

Judging by the way some of them behaved on the last flight I took, I think we already have them.

Did she spank you?
I didn't have enough Euros.
Mind you, when I got to Berlin and went to Rush Hour, it was a different matter :D

Not unexpected. First we'll have self-driving cars, then planes with one pilot, then planes with just a lightly trained emergency pilot (who won't be able to really help much), then Skynet.
