IDU Dimming

Hardy,

On the 767, the ADIs, HSIs, and both EICAS displays cannot be fully dimmed (CDUs can). There is always a faint display left (not burn-through).

I wonder if this is the same on the 744 (I noticed that I can fully dim all IDUs in PSX, so I assume PSX is right ;-).

Just checking.

Best regards,

Mariano

I can't remember what our 767's were like, but I have a video of a 744 CRT display during a brightness check. The screen looks completely black. The test looks like it was carried out in daylight, so even the light sensor inputs haven't make the displays appear.

PSX OK  :)

Just a thought re light sensor: I think the light sensor induced brightness increase is not an addition but a factor, e.g. factor 1 at night, and factor 3 in sunlight. Multiplying the manual setting of zero by factor 3 will make no difference. So when the knob is fully left, the sensor cannot influence the screen, neither in sunlight nor at night.
