Hi Hardy,

Just a quick question for you.
Is the ATC Robot (when used without the LNAV option, when it gives you vectors) terrain aware ?

I just a made a quick flight simulating an approach to LFMN and it vectored me right into a mountain.
It is to be noted that my flight started with an inflight situ and then I reconfigured everything while motion was stopped. After everything was configured, I then reset the ATC robot which seemed to be working OK, except that I felt it had trouble finding a "solution": it kept giving me heading 280 then 300 then 280, and so on. After that, it kind of left that "nuts" sequence, but it ended up vectoring me into a mountain.

Hi Charles,

the ATC robot does not check the terrain in the vicinity. The robot's altitude steps refer to the elevation of the target runway, and the robot's random vectors refer to the orientation of the target runway. The robot is not creative.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Next time I use the ATC Robot in a place where terrain is an issue, I'll try using the LNAV option then.

Cheers.
