PSX and FlightSim World ?

The main advantage of FSW over FSX and P3D is the use of TrueSky for weather rendering, and the updated World database of airports / runways, which would closely match what we have in PSX.

Has anyone tried to use VisualPSX with FSW ?

An example of the graphics we can get with FSW and it's TrueSky weather rendering engine:

I wonder if Garry still monitors this forums ... ?

A quick google shows no API documentation for FSW so that's not helpful.

There is a technical difference between a flight sim and a scenery generator - the only reason ExternalSim runs so smoothly is because the External Sim feature in P3D allows you to inject data whilst phase-locked to every render frame. External Sim is essentially a way to run the P3D flight simulator as a scenery generator instead.

External Sim is a P3D addition to the Simconnect standard, so if FSW did use Simconnect, it would probably lack this very essential (in my opinion, of course) feature.

Interesting times ahead, I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Indeed, that feature is actually present in ESP, and used, for instance, in another flight simulator I use - ELITE IFR - which allows for the use of P3D as a "visuals" generator.
