Hey all:

After doing my favourite EGLL-WSSS flight in XP11, I was reminded of that little quirk of XP11: sudden transitions of weather. I believe that xenviro will solve this and look better to boot.

Has anyone run XP(10/11) with xenviro and PSX? I'm assuming they play nicely together, but thought I'd better check.

Thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony

I am running the Steam version of XP11 with Xenviro and PSX and I am really very pleased with the combination. I do not sync the PSX weather XP11 so all the weather in XP is via Xenviro.

My original setup was FSX and Active Sky but would not go back. I was never really happy with Active Sky in my set up it needed a lot of prodding to reflect current weather. I also suffered in FSX, blurries above 24000 it all became a bit of a Faff.

Hey:

That's not something I'd thought of. I suppose that'd work quite well: they probably both draw from the same source and so would be the same. The weather in XPlane would have no real effect in PSX.

The biggest problem I've been having is the pausing and stuttering with XPlane, I suspect because of the weather update. I understand XEnviro fixes this, is this your experience?

Thanks

Anthony

I never had too much stuttering or pausing on XP11 only when leaving the likes of EGLL with traffic on.

I would not buy Xenviro to sort your stuttering issues, it has settings which you can minimise cloud draw etc. I would try to get XP11 optimised first.

Ok. The experience you've found though with XP11 + XEnviro is better that with just XP11?

I've just moved XP11 to my SSD which I didn't know I had the space for, which has slashed the load time in about half, so I'm keen to see what happens with that.

I did a few experiments and the following is the result from a flight at Sint Maarten, using Xplane 11 Xenviro and PSX.

Runway XPlane Default Clouds

It is a lot of money to invest in clouds and weather so I would hate to recommend Xenviro to you for you to be disappointed. I did not purchase to improve frame rates but overall visual experience which on my system works for me.

Hi,

Active Sky is coming to XPlane in a few months.

Hi,
Regarding running Xplane for scenery generator, if using it on SSD, if you use photo realistic scenery , for instances Ortho4XP , it takes up hugh amount of HD space,
This guy has a tip, all the photoreal tiles are stored on a 6 TB HD , and Xplane itself runs on an SSD .
In the custom scenery folder in Xplane he just puts in shortcuts to the scenery stored on the  normal HD, it seems to work great.
You can scroll to minute 35 to see the explanation
Hope it helps

What are people using to link PSX to XP11? I've been meaning to do this with XP10 for ages, but now I'm actually doing it for XP11. FSX/P3D are history!

pcpilot

I use xview a plugin for Xplane that links it to PSX.

Information on how to obtain it are here :-

You don't need to login at larkshayes.com to download the software, just click on the links.  I will remove the login box if it is causing confusion.  PSX Plane is up there now as well.
