Bingo.

Thanks Will.

I'll work up a PFPX profile addition for 5th pod probably next weekend.  I have the requisite data for it, just never created it.

Note that is only supported with LRC, and no other speed schedule.

Yes, noted, among other things ...

Here some interesting reading about "our"  ;) 5 th pod.
Also with some technical data.

I find the effects of the "fifth pod" very plausibly modeled, in as far as drag, and other aerodynamics effects are concerned.

Been playing with the "tick" box in "Aerodynamics" from cruise flight states. Appears beautifully modeled !

I am using Beta 7c and the 5th pod check box is greyed out. Do you have to have a specific model loaded?

Only RR & PW engined airframes are capable of V-Pod operations ....

* I just learned that GE engines "cannot be carried as a spare, as due to their design, there is a lack of ground clearance once mounted to the wing".

See also the Beta update 10.0.7 Beta 2:

10.0.7.0007. 5th engine carriage is now disabled on GE powered aircraft.

Doug,

Do you have a link from where I can download your PFPX profile?

Have you created an ER profile by any chance?

Thank you in advance,

Mariano

-ER data simply isnt available.  I have asked my sources ad nauseum.  Noone has the DAT file needed. But, I am keeping watch...

I didnt get a chance last weekend - I am going to hope that I can this weekend. I create the raw tables, then someone I know will have to add it to the user performance data file.

The tool I use requires a lot of modifications in the input file to correctly model the drag polars, and there are several corrections required, so it isnt something that I should hand out...

Here's another (cosmetical) question:

As we know, when the spare engine carriage mode is active, the FMC IDENT page indicates "ACTIVE" in line 5R.
"DRAG/FF" is at 3L.

Now the NG FMC's IDENT page has the "DRAG/FF" at 5R.
Does that mean the NG FMC has the spare engine stuff at 3L?

Does anybody know?

I think for the 744 NG FMC they carried over some stuff from the 777 FMC. But in this case they ignored the spare engine option. The 777 cannot do this, right?

I'll put $10 USD right down now & say none of the 777 variants can  ;)
