PSX BACARS - V4.0.9
« on: Tue, 24 Mar 2015 19:44 »
Hi Guys,

As you may have seen in Britjets videos and on our simfest streams we have developed an addon for PSX with the aim of simulating all of BA's ACARS functions within our simulator.

Several members of the forum have been testing it and we think it is in good enough shape to pass on to other users.

The main features are around the BA CARD system which reads from TopCat and our own performance tables to calculate performance figures for a given runway.

I have also made headway in intefacing to Hoppies Acars network.

Please feel free to report back any issues and I will try and get round to fixing them, or ask any questions here as the manual is a little lacking... sorry about that!

All menus in Small font will be added as time goes on.

The link is http://www.psxaddons.com/bacars

Requires .NET 4.5.1 available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40773

Hope some of you find this useful.

Cheers
Gary

Hi Gary,

can I list your add-on here? http://aerowinx.com/html/addons.html

Or do you fear there'll be too many questions and requests? :-)

Thank you for your contributions!

Cheers,

Oh no!

Will get it for my networked sim install- but please consider a port for Mac if at all possible!

Hi Carl,

Reasons for windows only are :-

1) I am comfortable with c# from my non sim life
2) My Sim Runs on Windows and so i developed on windows.

A Mac version is out of the question I am afraid.  Unless Mono Develop allows me to import the project and compile it.

I am a mac user myself but my sim world is all windows.  Sorry

Gary-

Most grateful, and understood!  Should the compiler work, no one would be happier than I.  If not, beggars... etc.

Either way- ta!

Thanks for this :D Would a Mac version work anyway as Topcat does not run on a Mac?

Perhaps you overlooked Gary's words: "...and for now will require a registered version of TopCat to Calculate V1 Figures."

(My added emphasis).    ;)

Given some slightly dubious TOPCAT figures from time to time, I for one will be extremely happy if a TOPCAT-free version can be developed!     :D

Brian,

That is the medium term plan.

Triple7 has been working on performance data from some BA tables he found.

There are still some questions around these figures, especially with regard to the figures from the PSX FMC calculated speeds but they seem pretty accurate to some real CARD figure samples we have.

Once we iron these out and have a catch up with hardy after his post 1.0.0.3 break we will transition to use these figures and retire TOPCAT from the solution.

All of these figures for RB211G or was it H engines... Triple7 may chime in shortly.

Cheers
Gary

hi,
I have a question here,
I run PSX BACARS,  PSX connected, ACARS Connected
when requesting the performance after entering  the data and clicking send the debug section of
PSX BACARS shows TOPCAT Found/ C:\\TOPCAT\\TOPCAT.exe
PushBack  changed: 110150
Starting  Card Creation
AC Number  12
The calculation progress bar hangs, loadsheet in 300s ,it stays that way .
I must do something wrong or overlook something.
Any help would be appreciated.
is there a special aircraft template to be used in TOPCAT maybe,?
thanks for any help
