Note: NSA and other intelligence agencies will have no access during the maintenance work! Hohoho.

I like how each time the estimated time increases :D

(12 years in IT, I've lost count how many times my estimates have been inaccurate....)

Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers

About 1987, I was taught this in software engineering class:

Make your absolute best estimate. Be pessimistic. Imagine everything that could possibly go wrong and include it.

Then multiply this figure by three.

Unless your system needs to read and write batch data to other systems. Then multiply it by six.

Unless your system needs to communicate with other systems in real time. Then multiply it by nine.

In mechanical engineering class, they waved pi squared at us. When in doubt, multiply by pi squared. That is a nice, academic, natural number. It can't be wrong.

Forgive my ignorance - what does the server do (and don't say "serve")?

Hardy Heinlin

The server contains this web site and my email system.

RogerH

Doh! Thanks Hardy. I kinda thought it was some kind of online system (maybe a bit like Simfest Dispatch) of which I'd not heard.
