I watched an episode of "Connected" on Netflix - Episode 4, Digits - It spoke about Benfords Law, which predicts the frequency distribution of leading digits in any set of numerical data -

I believe its used (apart from other fields) in fraud detection by the tax authorities.
there are several videos on YT on this... pretty fascinating stuff... i wonder if it's used in aviation in any way....
